The
Holy Family Institute is a home which houses, educates, and brings
up girls whose childhood was taken away from them and whose future
was devastated by the war and its tragic consequences. This
"Monument of Love" was built with donations from
thousands of benefactors from all corners of the world. Its
construction commenced in October 2000.
The
girls who live there are between 14 and 21 years of age and attend
high school in Siroki Brijeg or at the University of Mostar.
The educators, professors, priests, and nuns, each in their own
way, contribute to the education, upbringing and development of
their respective talents. Through their help, the girls of the
Holy Family Institute feel it is their home; a place where they
are secure, protected and, above all, accepted with much love.
In
addition to attending regular classes, the girls are taught home
economics and help with housekeeping and in the kitchen. In
their free time, they attend courses in computer science and
participate in the choir, drama, literary and liturgical groups,
as well as in art workshops. Their daily schedule, along
with their daily routine of studying, also includes morning and
evening prayer together.

The
goal of this program is to guide the minds and the hearts of the
girls for them to become complete individual with a Christian
outlook of life. In giving them an opportunity to reach their
highest potential, their gifts and talents is not only important for their own futures
and the future of their country, but for the entire world in which
we live.
We
are grateful to our Mother, the Queen of Peace, who through the
Lord's intercession opens and fill the heart of our friends and
benefactors with love. Each day, together with our girls, we
remember them in our prayers, offering them and their families to
the Motherly love of the Queen of Peace and asking for the
blessing and protection of our Heavenly Father upon them.
